Andrea Straka, VMD
General practitioner Dr. Andrea Straka has cared for pets at Irondequoit Animal Hospital since 1997. A native of Pennsylvania, Dr. Straka received her Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science from the University of Delaware in 1993. She continued her education at the University of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris in 1997.
As a student, Dr. Straka excelled academically. As an undergraduate, she was a Dean's List student. At the University of Pennsylvania, she was a member of Phi Zeta, the national veterinary honor society, and graduated cum laude.
Dr. Straka is a general small animal practitioner with professional interests in behavior. She advocates positive reinforcement training.
Traveling, fishing, skiing and reading are some of Dr. Straka's many hobbies. She is a member of the Rochester Pug Club and enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Winston and Martini, and two cats, Nikki and Norton. Dr. Straka and her husband, Dan, who is also a veterinarian, are the proud parents of two children, Andrew and Sydney.
